So, what about plastic...

We all know there is too much plastic. We see it everywhere! It is packaged, trashed, recycled, and it crowns turtles heads! We now know that plastic microbeads have a far reach on Earth and that even our bodies hold plastic.
Plastic does not decompose; it just breaks down into tiny pieces. It is already in our environment, here to stay for long, long time. So, why are we still buying a million plastic bottle every minute... Well, plastic objects, packaging, and materials continue to be made.
Why are we allowing the manufacturers to even produce plastic products! And we continue to use them, even with all the knowledge that consuming plastic is setting us back. They produce the plastic and we use it knowing somewhere else in our mind that it isn’t good for our planet. We, the consumer, have the choice to NOT BUY IT. Our power resides in this market economy. The Earth needs us to vote with our money and guild society toward a zero to minus X footprint.
Where are WE?
It is challenging to replace all the plastic in one’s home. Often there is simply no solution to replace plastic in the products we need.
Large, liter and half, bottles were irreplaceable for me. But we I carry water in my own reusable bottle. If me or a member of my family forgets water, we can go thirsty for the environment. Next time, we are more careful and we became more conscious when we leave home.
We traveled to Mexico this year. My middle daughter and I took our water bottles that we’ve had for three years. We emptied them at the airport, traveled to Mexico and refilled them at places that offered filtered water, then returned home with our bottles in tow.
Once we conquered the plastic water bottle challenge, our next quest was to find a plasticless  detergent solution to reduce our consumption of plastic even more. If water bottles are an easy one to stop, detergents are even less straightforward. The cosmetic and detergent industries have done a great job at brainwashing (get it!?) us. Sometime so cleanly that even evidence and good sense are not enough for us to change the way we consume.
I am starting this blog to help as many people as possible stop consuming plastic from the detergents, but also the chemicals in the products. I have been a soaptivist for nearly 9 years, and I am at the point where I know we can ALL have a PLASTIC FREE KITCHEN and BATHROOM.

The moment my first daughter was born, I questioned every aspect of our life. Replacing society imposed ideas with my own, using my instinct and good sense with a dash of moral and integrity
